BGGGJD x BGGGJD one more time

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So far, My losses have been minimal. 5 - 10% at the most.
This is the first batch that I have ever raised without the parents.
The fry are beginning to scatter out along the bottom. Yoke sacks almost gone.
In the next couple of days, They should be totally free swimming. Then I
will introduce my clean up crew (apple snail), It eats any old food, And dead fry
off the bottom. Along with some java moss. I'm also cycling a 10gal tank for there
next home. I have been exchanging 20% of my hatching tank water, With water
from the 10gal daily. This should smooth the transition when I move them.

They got there first microworms today, They attacked them:naughty:

Microworms are actually very easy to deal with compared to brine shrimp... IMHO. The only smell you will get is when
you take the lid off the container. Good cultures have sort of a vinegar smell. From beginning to end, a culture will
last about 3 weeks or so... depending upon conditions. You do have to maintain them though and keep making new
cultures from your old ones if you intend to use them on and on going basis. Also, you have to feed them(baby cereal),
ehhh about every other day or so. But really, in comparison, microworms are easier for me and smaller fry can eat them
more readily than brine shrimp. However, fry do need a varied diet other than just microworms.

I'm thinking about using duanes method, Peas, Pellets, tank water, And a food processor.
Maybe add a few other things to the mix.;)

Not at all. How else are you going to learn. Ok here we go.

BGJD= is a regular Jack Dempsey, that carries the electric blue Jack dempsey gene.

EBJD= stands for Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, the blue color morph of the regular Jack Dempsey

Gold Jack Dempsey= is the gold color morph of the regular Jack Dempsey

GGJD= is a regular looking Jack Dempsey, that carries the gold gene.

BGGGJD= is a regular looking Jack Dempsey, that carries both the Electric Blue gene, And the gold gene.

Platinum EBJD= displays both the gold traits, And the Electric Blue traits.

I hope this answers your question
