I'm thinking, As soon as they start to free swim, Remove the parents.

Spike:grinno:

Hey spike, I gently siphon the newly hatched wigglers into their new home and leave a small amount for the parents to practice.

Goodluck!

Thanks Jill

Well, I've had this problem before (The parents eating the eggs).
So waiting for them to become free swimmers could cost you 3x or 4x more spawns. By removing the eggs on the next spawn it makes the following spawn more important to the parents & you'll notice a big difference in their parenting skills. It's always worked for me, just a thought for you...

Sorry bro wish it would have worked out but hey they say third times a charm so best of luck on the next one.

This pair did eat the eggs the first time. This time, They cared for them until they lost there yoke sacs. Any tips on raising the eggs my self. What do you use to prevent fungus. And how much air do you use to keep the water moving.

I never had these problems with the regular JDs I had spawn before. But they were older...

Thanks terror, I'll just keep trying.:D

I like this idea for this larger pair. Next time will be there third spawn. :naughty:

Thanks everyone. This is definitely a learning process for me.

Hi,
I use methylene blue to help prevent fungus when hatching the eggs myself.
Hatch1.jpg
An air stone placed in the tank to fan the eggs & I also raise the temp in the tank to hatch them quicker.
Good luck with the next spawn.

Thanks for responding Jill

Ok, I used the methylene blue. Raised the temp to 78-80 degrees.
But I never thought about turning the pot upside down.
I like that!:D

Now once they've hatched, Do you allow them to group in one section until they absorb the yoke sack,
Or do you keep air flow up. To keep them moving?
