why doyou have ur temperature so low?

I have a school of 8 turquoise rainbow fish (Melanotaenia lacustris) in that tank. Rainbow fish would not be considered a "monster fish", so this may be their only mention on this site! Here is a quick pic:

Rainbow fish like a lot of oxygen. Colder water = more oxygen in the water. All of my fish are very active at 72F because they are acclimated to it, and because they are getting lots of oxygen. IMHO & IME, many people keep their fish too warm. Most fish can survive in a pretty wide range of temperatures, so it is good to consider the effects of the temperature on the fish's metabolism and on the quality of the water.

If you raise up your temp all you need to do is just circulate your water more and your oxygen levels will be fine.

I've keep my 55G tank at 82 and have plenty of oxygen from a sponge filter (rated for 125 G's per hour)and a duetto filter.

All my fish ( BGK & Bichirs) are very active.
