BGk will not eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah i soaked them in garlic! but not the seachem one, i have this garlic paste at home (just garlic ground together in a blender) and I took some out and soaked the bloodworms in that with some water. then after three hours i drained it and dropped it in the tank and it was gone today! will try to give him a piece of fresh prawn and peas soaked in garlic, will see if he eats that today

try and lower the garlic strength as the BGK won't really need a strong scent. The BGK will be coaxed onto other foods regardless of garlic but I agree it can help entice them :) It just needs time :)

i'm trying not to feed him too much though, i don't think i'll feed him today. maybe tomorrow will give him some fresh fish!

don't know why but I've never thought of trying mine on fish so might go and get some lancefish tomorrow. I think some people might call it "white bait"
Keep us informed :)

try maidenhead aquatics if there's any near you,you can buy smelt from there,i think its the same as silversides or at leat their little fish :)

Just be careful. Live foods can carry disease. Feeder fish are not kept in good conditions. They are stressed, kept in overstocked tanks in poor water and new ones are constantly added. They are VERY vulnerable to disease. If you want to feed live food, better to breed them yourself.

Also beware of frozen foods sold as "bait". They are not prepared to the same standards as frozen food intended for feeding aquarium fish.

If you buy frozen aquarium fish food, you can assume a higher quality, and many times extra nutrients are added. For instance, when I feed frozen brine shrimp, I always get the ones that are enhanced with spirulina. That means that the brine shrimp were fed a high quality diet of spirulina before they were frozen for my fish's consumption, so they are more nutritious.

i think i will either buy some frozen small fish or breed my own feeder fish. maybe i could breed some guppies in a separate 10 gallon or even better just add them to my main tank (after quarantine) and let them breed where all my fish can just eat the young as they appear.
