Im planing to have a top swimmer in my tank and im thinking a silver arowana, but can they be compatible?? Has anyone successfully had both in the sae tank?? I know that aros grow up to 3' but i had one before and i really like it. I need some advice pls. This is my first time having polys and probably my third time having an aro if they can go together.

Its fine as long as you have an 8x3' to house a silver.

Damn that big, i used to have it in the 240gal.

yeah they get 3' long, long term needs at least 3' wide.

Many people, including myself and @evzjardini just settle for a jardini, which can be housed for life in a 180g. They are aggressive, but most will at least tolerate bottom dwellers like bichirs.

What about lights?? Do a jardini freak out when the lights get turn off, cause my aro used to try to jumps out of the tank when the lights are off, my bichirs feed when lights are off and i dont turn on the light on my tank till the morning.

Arowanas can be skiddish by nature. They have extremely good eyesight.

Regardless, you should train your bichirs to eat when you want then to eat, lights or not. Starving for a couple of days will fix that real quick, even a week or two will not harm therm.

I promise they won't starve themselves.

Jardini S are likely the boldest aro you'll get. One at my lfs is a fiver chaser, and he'll jump out at your hand and bite you during maintenance. I don't think they are kiddish once 10"+ and settled in.
