bichir and jd in 55?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the jd just now saw the bichir for first time and he didn't chase it . but he seemed real interested in it. he followed it around as if he was sniffing it like a dog would, in the butt lol. but he just went back to his cave and left it alone. time will tell.............

they should be fine. the senegal should grow fast in the 55g. i had my senegal in a 10g for 4months, 1.5"-4.5". i put him in my 55g with cichlids and he's now about 8" almost a year after getting him. none of my cichlids bother him except my breeding severums when he gets close to their fry

Thanks for the post. Maybe I will have the same luck.

It should be fine my palmas has been the only fish i have been able to house with my red devil. He pretty much just ignores him.

bichirs grow very fast. mine grew from about 2-3" to about 5-6" in 3 weeks.

Wow that is fast which species.

They're senegals. I'd gutload them with mealworms for 3 weeks to a month before I start them on pellets. Mealworms seem to make them grow super fast.

Yep, live foods make fish grow a little faster. Im gonna be adding a senaglus in my 55 with a GT. Ive seen lots of people with Bichirs and cichlids, seems to work fine. Some caves/hiding spots are a good thing to have also with this mixture.
