Came across this from the web. Stuff I have never seen before in my hours upon hours of bichir/poly searches ;-). You know the ones we always see, the same 3 to 4 images of a wild bichir held by a local. But here are some new ones for me. Puts things into perspective the difficulties during collecting in a war torn country, and risk of rebel guerrillas. One of these "volunteers" kindly boxed them up for us, threw them in a mansion size blue storage bin, and one of these specimens may be in your tank. Collection point appears to be in southern Ethopia, Bikuru river leading to Lake Turkana. Here they are:

I've seen these photos before but never the complete set.

Hopefully this means that we will see lake Turkana sengals in the next few years.

My google translation from the site is pretty off. It's in Japanese. If somebody can translate this in detail would be fantastic. It's based off a collection expedition. As all of us our polypterus enthusiast, information about wild poly is rare, i.e. from the fisherman's or collectors, or even youtube videos from the fish market.
