Bichir in a 75 gallon???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think 75g have a width of 18in if right then should be ok.

Thanks guys. I'll go for 2. My catfish should be fine it's 5 inches just now but can get to about 9. Am I better to go for 2 of the same kind of bichir or 2 different species?

Hi again, I've been doing some research in to bichirs and realised they are like snake heads and can escape easily I have an open top aquarium so will need to get a lid for it. I've also noticed some of the tank size requirements to be a bit strange the Delhezi is said to only get a few inches bigger than the palmas but it requires a 180 gallon tank and the palmas only require a 50 gallon tank? May just be an unreliable website though. It says palmas get to 13 inch and Delhezi get to 17 inch don't know if that's true either?

Palmas and delhezis will get in the 12-14 in range given space and time. 75g should be fine.

Yes you'll need a cover for the top due to always launching themselves but a weighted glass top or cut acrylic can do this. Some use eggcrates as another cheaper option.

Okay thanks for clearing things up

Another option would be palmas palmas, palmas polli, retopinnis, and mokelemembe depending on availability.

Also what tlindsey tlindsey has mentioned. But can't add all of them lol.
How big do pollis, retros, and mokes get? I keep seeing different info as well.
