Have you tried sawing the pipe a little on one end to try to get closer to it?

This is a good idea. If he is stuck its prolly in one of the bends... why dont u start cutting the pipe piece by piece. just cut off a piece as far as u can see down it. that way u wont end up making a cut and then seeing blood... which wud suck... then once u see him cut as close to him as u can n then try pulling him out... or better yet pushing him out from behind so his fins dont dig in and block him from sliding out...

2 ideas
1.can you try pushing something thru the pipe forcing it out
2.push something into the overflow from the top till you hit resistance then repeat from the bottom this should give you an idea where exactly its stuck then cut above and then below the resistance
when you replace the overflow silicone a piece of plastic or fiberglass screen over the opening -Anne

Sorry for not posting the progress, had to go to class. Before class i finally got him out with a water pump, it took awhile though. Unfortunately he was dead when i got him out.

wow. that sucks. sorry dude. that almost happened to my del. fortunately, he had enough will to wriggle out of the situation. came out of the other end to the wet-dry with wounds on at least 6 places. then he wriggled his way out of the mech media and somehow ended up on the floor... where the cat was staying. more wriggling brought him under the tank (too small for the cat).

was his passing due to some wounds and broken bones or was it his inability to breath atmospheric air while inside the pipe?

I have no idea how he died. It was stuck in there when i woke up so it could have been in there all night. When i got him out though, he was bleeding from the mouth.
