Bichir tankmates

Btw, do you guys put lots of hiding spots in your tanks? Cause when I placed a good sized cave in my 20 I never really see my baby bichirs swimming around anymore. Even my ornate and del who are really really active when I had them alone dont usually swim and are really shy.

So heres a list of tankmates I have in mind right now to keep with my bichirs in a 75 as they outgrow the tank:

Surinamen Geophagus (3-4 of them)
Rotkeil Severum or redheads (3-5)
Silver Dollar (3-5)
Blood parrots (5)
Oscars (2)

Are these possible tankmates? And no I wont be adding all of them. Just one species of the five. Are they good or am I thinking of overstocking the tank? And would these fish outgrow my tank? I think the geo can maybe not sure abt the silver dollars tho. And what would be your personal choice guys? Sorry for all the questions. I just really find it hard to choose the right fish! Lol

If you plan to get bigger tanks and want to add to the dinosaur look. Gar!!!! Preferably the ones that won't grow larger than you..

Umm, no it doesn't. The fact that it rarely reaches less than two thirds of it's natural size states that very clearly. They also live in fast flowing rivers. Putting a fish like this into a 300 gallon aquarium is just plain cruel. Not to mention their teeth are more than powerful enough to go through even ganoid scales.

My opinion differs man. I meant 2 feet in captivity. they most definately can reach more than that in a tank. I didn't even state putting an ATF in a plain 300 gal in the first place. I put the "+" for a meaning. I just said it was possible for a bichir to live with a ATF. bichirs can eat bichirs too. Why do we put them together then? Half of the people in MFK don't even put their ATFs in 300 gallons+. bichirs live on the bottom while ATFs live in the bottom. I even have a 12 inch armatus with a bunch of 6 inch bichirs. they have been OK for a year and counting. I've been researching my stuff. go on youtube and search up "african tiger fish." I will garentee you that half of the vids has at least one or two bichirs in it. But hey, nothing is assuring in the wild or captivity. anything can happen of course. just trying to strike a friendly debate.
