What do i need to do to get my tank ready for a delhizi bichir
i have heard that you have to cover the tank with someting other than a hood any help would be appreciated

Cover glass?:) Because bichirs are quite good escape artists.;)

you have to decide on a substrate to(unless you already have some).

big rocks: the food that drops down could get stuck between the rocks and it cant get the food.

small rocks: they could get swollowed and you bichir could choke and die.

sand: your bichir could suck up the sand and it could mess him up.

bare bottom: looks ugly and unnatural.

NOTE: these are just the cons, i made it sound like the best way to go would be bare bottom and that might not be true.

I already have gravel and alot of feeder guppies in a 10 gallon for when it gets older =) the gravel is quite large an there a spme holes in the hood for heater and hob filter
here is a picture of my gravel

does anybody have pictures of how they keep their bichirs from getting out thanks

cant seem to find any delhizi's anywere would 1 or maby 2 sengals work

I think he said he has guppies in a 10 gallon which is not the one pictured. I think that's a 20 gal long on his pics. A 20 gal is a good grow out tank but they should be moved to a bigger tank when they get bigger. I would probably just cover those holes with duct tape or something especially the big round hole. I would also change the gravel. I would either paint the bottom of the tank black and go bare bottom or replace the gravel with sand.

i think that the gravel should be ok, thats sorta a shrinked down size of what i just bought for my tank.

p.s. lol, dont turn those speakers in the last pic on to loud:ROFL:.

the 10 is for feeder guppies eventually when the bichir gets bigger and the tank pictured is a standard 55 gallon tank in the pictures does it look like the bichir would be able to escape also if i did cover it up with duct tape the power filter would not be able to run. I have read about door screenso the water can get in but the bichir cant get out will this work? also if i was getting sand what kind would you suggest that does not cost a fortuns. I have a Under gravel filter so will i be able to add sand
