Agreed. It's going to take him a while to do water changes.

Well with the water change you could drain it until the bridge between the towers is dry and that could be your sign youve changed enough water just my $.02

thanks everyone,
im not sure on how im really going to do yet. i want to get an arowana for sure. but as for what else, im still deciding. because of the shape water changes would be a pain so i have plumbed the overflow box about halfway down and will have a ball valve under the tank for easy draining. for the return water, i will have RO water in a 55 gallon barrel that will fill into my sump for the auto topoff. thats the general plan so far. i am open to suggestions on anything, im coming from a reefing background and not much expierence in fresh.

thanks all,
Justin

Very nice concept.
Fill the "towers" with rock, covering a couple power heads for circ., to the bridge. Use "standard" lighting across the top for the "deeper is darker" look, and let the fish hang out where they want.
For sure not your typical "one level" tank.
Put a big HDTV under the bridge between the towers when it's all set up.
Post more pics when you get it done. Very interesting with tons of options.
Cost to have made would be astronomical I think, relatively speaking.
Coming from a reefing background says to me you have plenty of experience, you can just lose the protien skimmer, and the nitrate levels are somewhat more forgiving for fresh.
The more I look at the pic., the WAY more ideas come to mind.
I'd love to have it, glad you do. Keep us updated on the progress
P.S.
Invest in a looooong gravel vac. :D

If you want a serious price quote send that pic over to Kevin at NotJustFish - He is an MFK vendor located in Cali, and they build big custom acrylics..

I am guessing $10k brand new.. acrylic is expensive these days.

very nice tank when you get it set up post some pics that is going to look sweet when its done.

would make a better saltwater tank but is awsome none the less

I think it would cost a pretty penny, though probably not as much as some people here think since there would be few additional considerations in creating the arch shape in acrylic vs. a basic rectangle. Acrylic in that sort of thickness wont have much trouble at all supporting the 70 or so gallons in the arch. Three times that thickness I believe is capable of supporting 8 elephants or something insane like that. Really it's just a neat shape, that probably isn't done more often because of the cleaning/ netting considerations already outlined. I think it is an awesome tank though, wish I could have one too :p. If youre going with an Arow I'd mix in some really colourful S.A. cichlids that were maybe 1/3 the size of the arow. Otherwise, my favorite, and something I'd probably always suggest: discus.
