Big bala sharks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
first off all its funny cause it is a minnow..i got a pair...they get a good 14" anything over i would have to see for myself cause it is hard to believe..they do best in pairs or groups...will eventually need at least a 100G tank..but no i dont see that as a bad deal in a sense

They are in my 500g and are not skittish at all. They have been in the tank for a few hrs and come right up to me to check me out. They have also made my gar more active and my RTCxTSN more active. I know my catfish may eat them, but i don't think he will since he isn't too much bigger and is kept very well fed with shrimp and massivore. I like how active they are since the catfish and gar really were only active when food is close. I've never seen them for sale this size, I'm just guessing but I'd say at least 9". I know they were in with 2 oscars and 3 channel cats before and have some slight scarring, but overall im happy, so I guess it's a good deal

A bit pricey, but if you are happy do not dwell on what is done.

I think petsmart sells them in the 5-7" range for $10 if I remember correctly.

I am pretty sure you mistaken on the size, but maybe your pet smart is different. the ones that they sell as large lol are like 4 -5"

70 dollars is a bit pricey for 2

I think 70$ was a little expensive. They get harder to sell when their big and I've seen 10 inchers for 20$

I talked pet land into giving me two 8" ones for 20.00 each and I was so stoked they had them marked at 30.00 each.

Now pics please I am a super fanatic about these fish, they got me into the hobby.

I bought two of these for $1 each about 8 months ago, they were very small and have now grown to about 4-5". Its taken them a while to grow because my Africans eat much of their food and will pick on them when hungry. Now that they have grown a good amount they can actually eat pellets and appear to be growing faster. I also have a large tinfoil barb who is about 8"+ I would keep him but he is very skitish and causes all my other fish to freak out. He probably needs a companion or a school of barbs. If anyone is interested Ill give them away if you are local. I currently have a 75G african cichlid tank (with 14 3-5" cichlids) and 20 small aftrican fry growing in a 10G grow out tank that I eventually will introduce to my main tank. I need to get rid of the tinfoil and bala's by the time the fry grow up. I bought the tinfoil and bala's when I was a noob. They have been tormented somewhat by the cichlids, but are big and healthy.

yeah that price isn't too insane, little high but hey what can you do. personally bala sharks are one of my least favorite freshwater fish in the hobby but they do have a couple 15-16" specimens at the LFS i go to

i just like how they school together and are super active. they have all the movement my catfish and gar lack. only trouble, i havent gotten them to eat (not worried it hasnt even been a day) but my catfish is a pig and nothing will go near him

They Got me into the hobby too! And yes please post pics

I cant talk much on the price of ones that large, but it doesnt seem to bad. Small ones 5" are usually around ten in wisconsin.

I think are sweet fish, always wanted a lightly planted river set up to keep like three or five in...but you would want at least a 180g IMO.
