And the brown trout

I looked at every pic, damn shame most of those were killed...the 17.1 foot beluga sturgeon that weighed 1750lbs should have been released...

how the hell do you catch tuna? they are beasts. some big fish there

For the BIG BIG Tuna, marlin etc usually...

You troll large lures(usually squid skirts) behind a boat at a certain speed.
OR
You jig for live bait(slimy mackerel) and float them out under balloons.

And as stotty said you need big reels, stiff rods, game seat etc...

For smaller tuna, mackerel etc you can still do the above or you find a shoal feeding at the surface, quietly pull up within casting distance... and start casting and retrieving metal slugs like your life depends on it! haha

I'm sure that some, if not most of these catches were at the end of their rope anyway... I realize thats not your point, but many of these catches I'm sure were so exhausted, that they were not able to be released. I mean, some of these fish have got to be close to a hundred years old. To be hooked, and fought tooth and nail, until they have nothing left, and then pulled out of the water for however long it takes to gawk and measure... maybe some of them couldn't survive the fight.

The only dead ones are most likely that Tuna. Grouper and that ray..if its even real. The Tuna won't go to waste I can tell you that. Here on Long Island we see tuna like that all the time and not a single drop of meat goes to waste. Some people will keep it all for themselves and hand it out to neighbors and friends. Some will donate to food shelters. Most people sell there where you can get anywhere from 8-20 dollars a pound!! My buddy Jamie Quinn hooked up with a 1000 pounder (750) dressed 2 summers ago. Boy did he get some cake for that one. The grouper probably will also be sold/eaten.

you cant revive a tuna after it's fought for the amount of hours it fought to be landed... they probably sold it on the market,... and the ray is real... they catch those in the mekong river.

i have a friend who spear fishes and he catches some huge fish and lots of em too. He'll sell/eat/give away what he catches.

Yup. I'll only take what I want to eat. The spear fisherman that I know do like you describe. It's a very selective form of fishing that is done by people who care a great deal about that environment. It's hard to fish from on top of the water once you've gone down below.

Correct. Even though I've had tuna 400lbs on the side of the boat that broke off and swam away np. But that was in a shorter time period. The 1000 pounder came in in 45 minutes.
