nice tank, but not nice stock, i would seperate the pair, and the dovii once they get some size on them, they will kill everything in that tank... they get HUGE! and a 300 may not even hold the pair long term...

i would think the 300 would be fine for a dovii pair? i know they will kill all as they grow, just a matter of time.. the midas and friends will be getting other tanks as time goes by. i know the video doesnt suggest it but its very relaxed in there atm mate as it is most of the time...

great fish and lovely tank! but have to say I agree with the people who say to split them....even a divider until you can, they will be breeding constantly so the battles will be pretty constant.....and as Miguel says, one bad incident could lead to losing one of them, and they all look awesome examples, so I would imagine you would be gutted if that happens.

cheers people, thats what i thought jagster... ive been in all weekend dosing near the tank and hand on my heart theres been no more incidents at all... although that video would lead lead you all to believe my tanks chaos its really not!

I can understand some of the concerns. But I also know that no situation is ever truly one anyone can predict. Especially with cichlids. Be it any breed. Ive done lots of Africans and seen plenty of times things happened.

In your situation I think the issues are having females mixed with males of more then one breed. Not only that. But having mated pairs that have spawned. I'm sure the hormones on the water are high and driving them nuts. Also ive been a firm believer of a little over crowding takes some of that aggression away. Seems like you may need to change a few things.

Great video though!
