i just caught a 6" big mouth bass out of a pond and want to keep it in my 200 g until i build my pond. the stock of the 200g is a 8" oscar, 2 10" rb pacu, a 4" wild caught bluegil, a 13" silver aro, a 8" pleco, and a 9" tsn.

can it work or should i throw it back? and please be realistic

i would keep in it a smaller tank for about 2 weeks or more you never know what that fish could bring into your tank but after that you should be fine

Throw it back bro hell be much happier in a pond then he will in a little tank. Not saying a 200 gallon is little but compared to a pond it is.

true. its in a 30g plastic tub right now. im about to add an airstone. if its safe id move it to the 200 but im not entirely sure because bass are mean fish plus this one is wild caught

thats kinda what was in the back of my mind honestly, but who knows. i have about 20 fry from the same pond of these bass that im trying to raise in captivity as an expiriment to see if theyll be more gentle this way. but id like to see what a larger, less tamed one is like

you mean largemouth bass? then um throw it in the pond a 200G is way to small for those beasts..

sorry. in southeast texas, theyre called Big Mouths lol. and yeah its way to small for an adult. if i keep it, itll only be in the 200 for a few months. once i build my pond (roughly 10,000g or so, give or take a couple thousand) itll go in there. id like to have a big mouth(largemouth) bass in there once its built so i figure why not start on it now, if its possible. but i do understand that most things dont work so if i need to i will definately throw it back. thus why im asking lol cus i dont know much on them

Toss it back and get another one once your pond is done.
the only problem is i dont want to throw a killer into that pond. it needs to be large and tamed already. which is why you must start small. unless im mistaking, and if i am then please say so someone lol.

and im diggin the payara btw. thats pretty sweet.

i kept lmb's they do fine with cichlids. if any thing your cichlids will pick on him a little but he will do fine
