They surpase 3'. The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Fishes, Whales & Dolphins lists them as growing to 3' 2". I have seen them at 3'+ in wild (maybe i shouldnt say wild cause it is a stocked pond, i think they may be fed too).

Another law that really grinds my gears, you need a permit for pirahna. Why? Its not like they are going to colonize NY waters.
