Most people who go on these trips tend to be older doctors, lawyers, etc. However, there are plenty of other folks who just save up. I shared a boat the whole trip with a 32 year old cop from a small town in Wisconsin. He goes every few years when he saves up enough.

I booked through Acute Angling (www.acuteangling.com). They have lots of great trips and they are all at prime times. My trip was to the Tapera River which is a tributary of the Rio Branco. No matter how well you try to plan, the rain there can wreak havoc with these trips. If it rains and the water goes into the jungle, you could struggle to get 3-5 fish per day. Acute Angling is very honorable and rebooked me a couple times when the fishing was bad. On my trip I averaged about 50 peacocks per day and about 10 random fish (arowana, piranha, trieda, etc), although the number of other fish could have gone up dramatically if we hadn't spent all our time concentrating on peacocks and avoiding the others.
