who said anything about 100% every week or lfs's doin 100% wc's? the only reason i have done 100% is because of moving or swapping tanks. some, deffinately not all, discus breeders do 100% daily to provide the absolute best water quality.

water changes dont kill fish, people that dont know what their doin kill fish.

Discus are very delicate fish..... If someone is doing a 100% W/C weekly and they are still alive... Then I dont know..........

Those Discus must be really pooping up a storm in that tank

Im sticking to my guns......50 % W/C is the way to go even if its bi-weekly depending on the bio-load. If anyone else wants to do 80-90-100 % W/C then I wish them the best of luck in their mortality rate.

sounds like your doing something wrong, ive never had a problem and ive done proboably 10 or more 100% wc's and countless 75% wc's. beni. bac. does not live in the water and wc's will not affect it if done properly. some discus breeders do daily 100% wc's.
o ok i thought i was going crazy cause i change my water like that 2 i havent had any die yet from the water changes ////what do u use to treat ur water prime????

Aqua Plus Tap Water Conditioner.

1 capful per 10 gallons.

Like I said, if anyone wants to do big water changes due to a heavy bio-load or poor water qualities, then I am all for it! In dangerous situations where your fish might be in serious danger due to spikes in ammonia or other such things I would be more than glad to say " Go for it" but for a simple routine water change, 75-100 % Water Change.....I dont know...

 If you guys say it works.....then I guess it works for you...I dont call anyone a liar.

wow, didnt realize this was still goin on.

i ment how much did u pay for it im sorry
i paid $20 for it

And i left the lights off and that helped a little bit, but it was still murky so i did a 75% yesterday and everthing seems to be fine. ill post a before and after pic in a little bit.

The light this time of year seems to be a killer for algae blooms. I have a 125 with 6 RBP's which stays pretty much dark, never had algae. But my 55, with "lunch" fish had the bloom from hades. I did a complete rock vaccum, cleaned all decarations, pulled the live plants out and done a 90% change but left the bio wheel in and they are good to go. No more green, murky or anything. Water temperature is the key and dont dump water on the fish!
