BigAls and their horrible customer service!

Hi,

I'm a bit upset at the customer service of BigAls online. I bought a rapids mini canister filter and the thing has problems. First of all, it leaks where the tubing connects to the canister. Second, I can't get the thing to run. I called them and the guy tells me to tilt it, suck on it, fill it up with water etc. He must think I am stupid, but anyway I try it and still nothing. The intake tube picks up some of the water but once you set it down everything stops. I don't know if its because these filters suck or this one is a defect, but I am not happy.

Anyway I was talking to the same customer service guy 2-3 times and I can tell they do not want to do anything about it. Basically want me to keep it and lose out. He keeps making excuses like " Are you sure you had water in it", " Can you play with it longer". I been "playing" with it for almost 2 weeks.

Anyway he tells me to send it back and if they feel it doesn't have any problem they will send it back to me. And the thing is he asked for my credit/debit card number. I lied and said I didn't have it on me, cause I don't want them with my number so they can charge me for shipping.

I'm thinking about not even returning it cause I don't want to risk them saying it works fine. Just their reactions and how they handled it makes me not trust them. He made it seem like leaking is normal. I wish I never did business with them and I will not in the future.


They may have some nice prices sometimes, but their customer service is HORRIBLE!!

Because I did not know beforehand how bad BigAls was. I bought this filter cause it was cheaper at BigAls. I can see why they do this now. The lure you in and then once you buy you are stuck.
 
I know this sounds as though I am disputing your experience with Big Als, but, I am not. If you say this happend, it must have. I, however, have always had the greatest shopping experience with them. They are, in fact, probably my most trusted (along with thatpetplace) e-tailer. I guess any vendor can have a bad moment, but, I don't think this is indicative of what normally happens with Big Als.

Sorry for the trouble you are enduring. Maybe you "should" send it back. They are, indeed, reputable and are not known for "ripping customers off". They got your credit card when you bought it. Believe me, they still have it. Give them a chance to make this right for you. If they suddenly become a rip-off outfit (which won't happen), then alot of us are in trouble.

Yeah,I've never dealt with them.They sent me a catalog once but I stick with Foster and Smith.....I figured that the price must have been better at Als,hope you get it all straightened out.
 
I think the guy was a supervisor or manager or something. They don't have a bunch of people taking calls. Its the same guy taking the calls. Yeah I have no doubts people have good experiences with BigAls. The thing I noticed is no matter what you are shopping for, at BigAls their prices are slightly cheaper than everyone else. Thats good. But the problem is, god forbid you have a bad order, you are going to get stuck.

I don't trust sending the product back because I don't want to be stuck with this filter and also charged even more money (for shipping). Its better for me to just take the loss. The customer service guy is the type thats so aggressive and rude. It reminds me of the AOL customer service and how they give you a hard time with disconnecting service.
 
Hope it gets fixed for you. I ve botten many items off Big Als and never had problem with them. Try asking for a supervisor or manager or something instead of talking to the same guy, maybe that will help?... good luck and hope it works out.
