Biggest Black Belt on MFK?

I finally measured my Vieja maculicauda today when I moved my tank to a different room of the house. He is 12" TL exactly.

I didn't take a picture of the ruler next to him, you'll just have to take my word for it. ;)

Anyway, I read these guys can get 14" or bigger, so let's see it! Anyone got anything bigger than mine? Sometimes it is the size that counts.

Beautiful fish you have there. BB's have recently caught my eye so I picked up a couple juvies from Rapps about a month ago. They are only around 3" now, but appear to be growing quickly. How long did yours take to reach that size?
 
I "rescued" mine from a LFS. I've had him a few months. Guess I can't take much credit for growing him out! :)

I'll post a pic of when I got him a bit later. He was malnourished and had some internal parasites when he arrived. Obviously he has recovered well. ;)
 
About two to three years ago Kings Discus in Seattle had a black belt that was close to 16" long, and about 12" tall. Single most massive cichlid I've ever seen in person. Much larger than a dinner plate. Wasn't very attractive but sure was a beast!

i went into kings discus and left quickly as i was expecting a drug raid cause that place was sketchy but 16" is huge.

not my blakbelt but thought i should post it as it dwarfs every fish in that tank must be at least 14"

DAMN. I'd say 14" is a bit low... That thing is massive!

very good looking black belt. ... looks like you have nice natural looking setup. ... in fact i think i may have seen a youtube video of yours before. do you have videos posted of your fish?
 
Nope, no YouTube videos. If you search through my threads you may find some uploaded on photobucket. But quit de-railing! :D

I want to see big black belts!
