Here is my big guy. He lives at my Mom's house now but I see him on a regular basis. He just had a huge batch of fry with his little lady. Here are some pictures from when he lived in my tanks. He's about 9"

Best looking JD I've seen. Does he stay this dark color all the time?

For the most part he does. I'm hoping to get some new shots of him today

I'll believe that a JD gets 12" when I see a fish out of water w/ a measuring tape for proof. Tank shots can distort pics and reference size. No way a JD can grow over 10".

This one? I think Cebosound1 sold him. I would have cleared out the living room and converted it to a shrine. I like when they get a rolling pin thickness. It's like some mini-Dovii:

They're great fish, human-like in a bad way, having most of the 7 Deadly Sins: sloth, gluttony, wrath, lust, greed (when not wanting to share a tank). They might do pride for all I know, making it all seven. They're ambush predators in the wild. I assume they'd spend a lot of time hanging out near caves or among plants, waiting for lunch to swim past. (There's a poster on here somewhere who has pics of JDs in the wild. He knows more about this.) These are JDs and a Firemouth in Yucatan. JD juvies at 0:40.
