Yeah, they do have a habit of hanging out in plants or in pots, not at all like my Mayan who ALWAYS is up in your face with his goofy yellow eyes wanting to know when the pellets are going to appear.
I am going to be doing some tormenting (read:venting) of some of my 300 gallon stock today. I'll snag my JD and measure him out of the water and post a pic of him if he's 9"+.

I know some fish don't but jack dempseys respond very well to powerfeeding they don't get fat or anything like that it gos right to there growth im talkin wen they are under 7 tho. mine ate like a cow n I never seen a fish shoot up to 7 inches so fast in my life he just kept eating and eating . keep that in mind
Great idea for a thread! Here's my hefty male JD "Big Jax". He's about 3 years old, 8.5" long and almost 2" thick. Contrary to the picture, my aquarium glass is very clean (the little white specks are bubbles from the filter's outflow). Enjoy

What is his diet and water change schedule?
Thanks swifty. I change 30% of the water every 6 days. As for diet, I feed my Cichlids Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets as a staple.
Bah, he's only 7.5 inches.
