Biggest size tank you can realistically own

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
realistically the biggest i could own in my house would be 8'x2.5x2.5 but it would mean no new pool/dining table so my 180 is going to be the biggest.

240
why

because alot of people dont own their home and moving a 1000gal tank is almost not worth it

selling a big tank is not always easy (friend sold a 400gal glass tank 6x 1st 5 people showed up in a small truck with 1 helper and backed out when they had to hire movers)

big tanks are expensive to buy and maintain

maintance on big tanks sucks they need to be setup as close to maintance free as possible

alot of people get obsessed with huge tanks (no wonder most of us are men) when if they spent a little more time and thought on making what they have better they would be happier just my own expierence

when 1st started keeping fish i wanted more fish that needed more room if fish spawned i tried to keep every fry :screwy:

streamline your hobby

i hoppe to set a 3mx0,8mx1m 2400l by the end of summer in my living room but must by new sofa to wife first  and be very nice to her

when i do finally buy my house hoping i dont move again i had a wall length built in tank in mind so i would say 500-700 gal area with a sump and filtration room in the basement ..

200-300gal would have to be the biggest i could go, an it would have to be set up as a room divider.

the absolute biggest tank i could fit in my house is a 600gallon 10x4x2

but sadly the bigscreen tv in that spot and my dads stupid girlfriend wont give it up :swear:

id trash a 56in big screen over a 600 gallon tank ANYDAY!!! :naughty:

I totally agree: here's the layout in my room

35 gal SW tank
75 gal Cichlid tank
125 gal with RBP's
1 small tv

With so many fish, who needs television?
