Hello; If the OP owns the building then it is his risk. However if someone else owns the building and the property is damaged there is a lot of liability. This seems poor advice to me.
Well take this with a grane of salt. It is a big risk indeed and thats why i said put as large as he think it can handle.

If not certain of how the floor is constructed i would not gamble with to much of a load either. I grew up in an old house with floors swing when you walked on them on the upper floor in the house. I moved a sofa and the floor started to bend.
