Biggest tank reccomended on second floor?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
:nono: Hello; If the OP owns the building then it is his risk. However if someone else owns the building and the property is damaged there is a lot of liability. This seems poor advice to me.

Well take this with a grane of salt. It is a big risk indeed and thats why i said put as large as he think it can handle. :nilly:
If not certain of how the floor is constructed i would not gamble with to much of a load either. I grew up in an old house with floors swing when you walked on them on the upper floor in the house. I moved a sofa and the floor started to bend.

I’ve had a 125g on the second floor for almost 2 years no issues. I’ve been told 180 is the most you should safely do without metal vertical support beams, although every house is different, best of luck

Up to 125 gal and placed against a structural wall should be OK for most houses with no reinforcement, and ideally place across girders to better distribute weight If you have space underneath, you can go to homedepot to buy a steel column support for bigger tank.
