why? the first people to smoke thought it was good. how do the first people to keep cichlids know this? they must have a reason. bio-wheels work great. good combination of water and oxygen = lots of beneficial bacteria and healthy fishies :screwy:

If bio-wheels are such crap, then why are they used in many waste water treatment plants to help purify drinking water? Of course those are much larger, but they work on the same principle.
 
a bio-wheel is not the only source of Bactria in your tank, there are every where in you tank. and for a bio-wheel to have any effect on this it has to be like 2' long. proven fact look it up, and if your sitting here reading this look on the internet and do some research. i am not the only one with this opinion

im just saying that they are a wast of money or your part, you can harbor 200x more if im right, using a piece of foam on the intake of your filter than using a bio-wheel
 
I ran a 30 gallon tank with a double sided Biowheel.

It ran untouched for 2 years with perfect water parameters. No water changes and the filter pads stayed clean. Never had to once even rinse them out.

This thread is stupid and I dont think it will last long...
 
i run an inline canister filter, but before this i had bio wheel. i dont use them anymore cause i like not having the filters hanging on the tank. if i had to go back i would cause there cheap and very low maintnance!!! i loved them

Yes you are saying this, you have yet to provide any proof whatsoever. C'mon stop being lazy and do some research to prove your point or even one link to agree with your statements.

I have two bare bottom tanks, with bio wheel filters. Your telling me that the only bacteria or "bactria" as you call it, is growing on the glass? So basically you would say I could pull these bio wheel filters and my fish would be just fine.

Recommendation change the "m" to a "dis"
 
My 125 has two 400's on it and I did notice when I added more air to tank they worked better. But that could just be coincidence.
