hi every one i'm new here. just wondering what people feed their birchirs!? i feed mine lance fish and some times a cube of beefheart but since i got him he seems to have lost the darker stripes on his side i wondered if this was to do with diet?

Which birchir have you got?They can eat whitebait prawn mussel cockle earthworms and sometimes pellets but these are least favourite.Some birchirs loose markings as they get older,some gain markings.I can also say for the first time-hi,welcome to M.F.K.
what kind of bichir do you have?
i feed all of mine...
frozen blood worms
raw shrimp (cut in small pieces)
live nightcrawlers
live black worms
smelt (cut in small pieces)
sinking pellets
and i throw in a couple dozen mosquito minnows once a week, i raise them in my turtle pond outside.
some people feed cut up squid, salmon, white bait, beef heart, prawns, krill...
the list goes on. anything fishy lean and meaty.
variety is the key to a healthy bichir

delhezi i think ive looked on loads of websites and he doesn't really look like any of the ones i've found! nore does he like having his picture taken which makes having him ID'd a bit difficult 
there is only a couple bichirs with stripes.
the first is a p.delhezi (upper jaw species light colored with stipes)
the second is a p.weeksii (also upper jaw dark brown light belly and stripes)
the third is p.endlicheri (protruding lower jaw medium brown and stripes)
your bichir look like one of these?
