dangit,You asked for good birds to feed snakes so I thought it would be funny to post this other guys pet bird thread. You know, pet birds for one guy, snake food for the other guy,get it,no,pet bird,no,alright, never mind Im tired.Good night.I failed.

I wouldn't recommend hookbills like budgies or cockatiels. They can both bite quite hard, and are definitely not cost effective. Finches, poultry, and gamebirds would be the best. As far as birds having more calcium then mammals, that's crap. Birds have "hollow" bones, thus less calcium. Reptiles that are fed birds also have runnier, smellier feces. If you want to increase calcium, as well as other nutrients, in your food items(frozen/thawed only!), get a good reptile vitamin powder, mix with water and inject the solution into the thawed mouse/rat. Don't over do it through.

I feed almost everything to my snakes i can get my hands on for example
Budgies, different species of finches, lovebirds, canarys, baby ducks, chicks, baby doves and pidgeons. They eat all with out problems even my ball python.

Dont know if anyone mentioned this, but you can feed quail too.

i dont understand why you would want to feed a bird to a snake in the first place. just doesnt make sense. if you're going to do so, at least kill the bird in a humane way before feeding it.

you sir, are a freak. why in your right mind would you feed budgies or love birds to a slithering freak of nature? love birds cost so much money and are beautiful, and budgies are the most harmless cool little birds ever? if you enjoy watching a snake eat that much, you are sick in the head:screwy:

:duh: everyone is entitled to their opinion but you dont have to call someone "a freak" or "sick in the head" and i find snakes extremely facinating and sometimes quite beautiful, they are not "slithering freaks of nature" by any means
