Did you know why the fish died? What fish did you have and what conditions were they in? How often did you do a water change? Did they show any signs of disease? Did you condition the water? How long did they live and what fish were they? How many gallons does your tank hold?

The thing is, if you just buy new fish again and don't realize why your previous fish died, your fish might just die again from the same mistake.

Also if I know your tank size I can recommend a fish type. >.<

The fish died because the feeder goldfish we got had parasites so we are extremely aware of our mistake....and for tank size that shouldnt be an issue unless you are going to recomend something like an adult arapaima
 
Well, i would ask him. i took my chances when i got my betta, but he really likes it. I know its small but seriously he could kill like a zebra danio in one day, totally incompetent with fish so he let me take care of it but he insists on feeding it.

No matter what the fish is i'd be dead in most cases if it went in my tank...

I see.
Tank size can be an issue. African Cichlids don't get a big as an arapaima or even an arowana, but they still shouldn't be kept in a 15 gal.
