Personally,I am only six months into this hobby. Whenever it does seem like work instead of a hobby I just remember how much I enjoy just sitting and watching my fish.I find it very relaxing after a tough day.

This is the reason why i do it even though im not in the mood. That and couple of pricey fish that will croak if water is not right. :)

Its just that you get to the point that everything feels like a chore and i just want to know if you guys feel the same and what do you do if you get the water change and feeding "blues"

..sounds like you need a new fish or groovy piece of equipment or something. That generally re-kindles my enthusiasm for the hobby!

I tend to multi-task when I work on my tanks. Im usually cleaning the house or online while my tank drains.

A new fish to stir things up and keep you on your toes might do ya some good too.

I also try to remember that if I take care of my fish, then they will take care of me (mentally).

Maybe its because I've only been back in the hobby for a year, but I legit LOVE cleaning my tanks. I LOVE it. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. As a mail carrier I have a tedious job with NO variation from day to day. As soon as I walk in the office, I'm dead set on finishing as fast as I can so I can go home. All day at work I day dream about new tank ideas, DIY ideas for stands, filtration, etc. My local LFS is even one of my delivery stops :naughty: .I even have pics of my tanks on display at work (pics of my wife too, but no one asks how big SHE's growing, or if she liked the feeders I bought her!). I have every Sunday and Thursday off, so those are my Python-ing and water quality testing days. I've made water changes into a game. I try to see how fast I can change the water in all 4 of my tanks. My best time yet is 55 minutes. Seriously, for the amount of joy my fish provide me with, it's an absolute pleasure to take care of them.

In that case, you could try *ahem* toking a little reefer before any maintenance, that makes mundane tasks seem a little more interesting!? :grinyes:

Also good for household chores like ironing, vacuuming and washing dishes

LOL!!!!

that happened to me when i used buckets

one day a cartoon on boomerang caught my attention, so i watched it. . .

my bucket was overflowing 5 gallons of water on the floor afew minutes later.

I found that problem too when I had many tanks, I would never have time to maintain all of them. Some would be left to fend for themselves for days. I actually had a tank that could survive months with only water top offs. Now I just keep 1 tank and I keep it clean.

it did when i set up 20+ tanks and started to breed and buy/sell fish, my friend who did this with me sorta lost interest and after 2 months doing the work alone i called it a day then sold the lot and went back to 1 tank
