I realized that one of my fish was swimming in the corner..
and then saw that his tail was ripped off.

Will it grow back so he can swim again? if so, what condition should I keep him in?

What fish species? What did it get bitten by? How much of the tail is gone... the whole thing or... got a pic?

it wasn't in a turtle tank, was it? Get it to a hospital tank or isolated place immediately. If something bit it's tail off when it was fine, it probably won't do too well now that it is injured

I agree with the O. and if you figure out who did it, perhaps that animal! should go into a shu (solitary holding unit). punishment in the underwater world is often eternal.

well it was a feeder but i didn't like to see it not be able to swim so i just gave it to the turtle for a quick death.

i was just wondering if this was ripped of by some fish of the same size(for maybe competition) would it have healed back? how long would it have taken?

Depends on prey and predator species. Also on the amount of damage. Finnage usually grows back, if it's only the rays that were damaged. When bones are bitten off, recovery is unlikely.

well i'm sure the turtle got it..i don't think the other feeders are aggresive enough..

i have no idea of his ID will post later..kinda like a shiner. called minnows at the baitshop.
around 3 or 4" was the biggest fish in length.
others are rosiereds, bluegill, goldfish.
and theres a crawdad but he's always in the cave.

you know the tail is pointy in 2 directions right? like a pacman...well one of the pointy got bitten off

wait so you have feeders in with your turtle and you are asking what bit the feeder?
