I was looking at my aro very closely last night and noticed this on both sides. Basically it looks like a piece of fin growing in improperly, kinda reminds me of a ingrown hair or something. Please let me know if this is normal or if not what I am dealing with. Please look towards the back of his top fin...Thanks!

Is it normal for the worm to be the same color as the actual fish? Looking at the spot is is the exact pattern as the Aro's fins. Either way how do I get rid of it if it is an anchor worm?

Yes...That is exactly where I am worried about. The fish has the same thing on the other side and then another towards the beginning of his top fin.

Lastly I don't have carbon however I do have Purigen in the filters...Should I take it out?

Eric

Yeah, I would take the purigen out and toss it. I do not think you can treat it without messing up the purigen and I would not want to risk putting it back in.

Treat the whole tank. The little forked tail thing you see are a sort of egg sack.

Remove the Purigen and any resins. Then treat the tank. The visible parasite may not be the only one in the tank. Has the aro been gill-flaring? Or, looking like he's coughing?
