Hold onto your seats, today's only the first day. We won't see where this goes until at least a few days in. I can only pray now.

Good luck. I guess the dozens of attempts documented on this site that ended in death weren't enough.

When members warn someone about something very risky, it's not negative posts. It's reality. The advice isn't meant to discourage, it's meant to save the lives of the fish.

I know the risks I'm taking and what's at stake. There's only a slim chance that this will work and chances are high that it'll fail. Then I'll probably post about it and get a bunch of " I told you so". However even if it's a slim chance, if it's not impossible; I will try. Also I am on stand by and if I so much as see a single nip or bite, I'm jumping into action and splitting them. I'm not going to wait till ones damaged badly before taking action. What I'm atempting might not be ethical but it's not crazy either. The reward
is just too tempting.

Have you thought about the following....

black arowana: now 6", in 2 months 8", in 6 months 12", in 12 months 16"+
Jardini: now 4", 2 months 6-7", 6 months 10-11" and quite possibly intolerant of most other fish, 12 months 14-16"+
Ornate Bichir: now 5", 2 months 7", 6 months 10-12", 12 months 15"+.
clown loaches: now 2 inches, 2 months 2.2", 6 months 3.5", 12 months 5", or dead from the jar/ornate.
Jack dempseys 2", 2 months 3-4", 6 months 6", 12 months 7"+, unless they've been killed or eaten.

Your said it yourself;

Against all sane advice

What are you hoping to achieve here? You have a 55g tank that is going to last 6 months tops, a jardini that has a good chance of turning into a psycho at 8-10" and destroying your other fish, 3 tiny clown loaches that are going to be snack size for your bichir or jardini in a month or two, a couple of cichlids that are going to be border-line on snack size if they don't grow quick enough, and a fragile little black that is going to end up fighting with the jardini and will end up either beaten to death, or stressed and starving. Mark my words, the chance of these two aros getting on long-term is virtually nil, would be nothing short of a miracle IMO.

Do you have a spare tank set up ready to separate the black should things work out?

What do you intend to do about the size difference between the slow growing cls and the predatory bichir?

You said you plan to upgrade in the future, but how soon? Realistically anything smaller than a 180g for the two aros is a joke, are you going to be able to provide that in a few months time?

You choose to ignore the countless deaths people have had combining two aros, and mixing jardinis with other fish. You have put absolutely no planning into the stocking of this tank. It seems to me like you are just so desperate to jump on the MFK bandwagon that you've gone out and bought whatever bad-ass fish you can find. This tank is destined to fail, and I just hate seeing fish like black aros and clown loaches being killed by fools who think they have a chance at making a miracle happen.
Go buy a lotto ticket if you want to gamble.

Bought whatever bad-ass fish I could find? Hopping on the bandwagon? you think I'm doing this to impress you or anyone on this site? Heck if I didn't genuinely need bits and pieces of advice, I would have never joined this community. I didn't come here to be judged. I do have a 180 gallon tank ready and if even that proves to be too small in the coming years, I'm saving up for a 240. The way you make it sound, it's as if these fish are novelty play-do for me to shape and play as I please. If you're right and you probably will be about the jardini and when I can no longer provide ample room or break up fights any longer; I would have to sell/give it to someone who can. Also my fish are all pellet trained, not a single fish eats live food. And by predatory ornate, you mean mine who sleeps with my CLS every night in their sunken barrel? The one who won't even try live earthworms and only wants sinking massivore pellets? Hey maybe, my tank is destined to fail but even if it is, I wouldn't let a single one of my fish die. These fools you speak of, do they just watch as their fish get torn up? Or do they actually do something?

You only come to MFK for advice which you quickly shun. A 240g? Your gonna need more then that.

So you don't work, go to school or sleep? Watching your fish for 24/7 is physically impossible. Many times signs of issues will show and you can move a fish to prevent death. But many times the sign of issues appears as a dead fish floating in the tank, which happen quickly as overnight.

So what your supposed to do with any knowledge gain from research or advice, is to usey such that you don't end up with floating fish.

So should I give up without really trying? Since this is such a badly made decision. I'm not shunning your advice, I take it with a grain of salt. Maybe I'm just selfish, but who doesn't want their setup to work? Obviously no one likes someone telling them "hey your way isn't going to work" even if it's true. A lot of people find out certain combinations don't work/work only after seeing the aftermath. What you guys are saying makes a lot of sense, "don't wait till you see dead fish and then give up". What I'm hanging onto is that sliver of hope that it'll work, "hey maybe I'll be the lucky guy" is my mind set. I just don't appreciate being called a fool for trying. You don't really change someones mind by telling them they're stupid. I'll put the black arowana in my 180 with my koi until I can afford to get something even remotely bigger than a 240. Why risk it.

If you think I am telling you that you are stupid, well then apparently you may be, but not my intent. You have pegged as to why you ignore the advice on this matter though. Yes you are selfish, it's ashame that we have selfish fish keepers as yourself within this community.
