HighBackRTG;4403310; said:According to your selfish line, it would mean every member of MFK is selfish. Let ask you, why do you raise fish? For your own enjoyment or for the fish? Did these fish ask you to take care of them? If one gathers from what you just said, it would mean everyone person who's ever taken a fish and "jailed" it in a fish tank is selfish. Maybe we should all just release the fish back into the wild then? Do you have trouble taking words that I say into context? Did I ever specifically point you out as a person who called me stupid/fool. Don't assume, it makes an ass of you and me.

black arowana: now 6", in 2 months 8", in 6 months 12", in 12 months 16"+
Jardini: now 4", 2 months 6-7", 6 months 10-11" and quite possibly intolerant of most other fish, 12 months 14-16"+
Ornate Bichir: now 5", 2 months 7", 6 months 10-12", 12 months 15"+.
clown loaches: now 2 inches, 2 months 2.2", 6 months 3.5", 12 months 5", or dead from the jar/ornate.
Jack dempseys 2", 2 months 3-4", 6 months 6", 12 months 7"+, unless they've been killed or eaten.
Your said it yourself;
What are you hoping to achieve here? You have a 55g tank that is going to last 6 months tops, a jardini that has a good chance of turning into a psycho at 8-10" and destroying your other fish, 3 tiny clown loaches that are going to be snack size for your bichir or jardini in a month or two, a couple of cichlids that are going to be border-line on snack size if they don't grow quick enough, and a fragile little black that is going to end up fighting with the jardini and will end up either beaten to death, or stressed and starving. Mark my words, the chance of these two aros getting on long-term is virtually nil, would be nothing short of a miracle IMO.
Do you have a spare tank set up ready to separate the black should things work out?
What do you intend to do about the size difference between the slow growing cls and the predatory bichir?
You said you plan to upgrade in the future, but how soon? Realistically anything smaller than a 180g for the two aros is a joke, are you going to be able to provide that in a few months time?
You choose to ignore the countless deaths people have had combining two aros, and mixing jardinis with other fish. You have put absolutely no planning into the stocking of this tank. It seems to me like you are just so desperate to jump on the MFK bandwagon that you've gone out and bought whatever bad-ass fish you can find. This tank is destined to fail, and I just hate seeing fish like black aros and clown loaches being killed by fools who think they have a chance at making a miracle happen.
Go buy a lotto ticket if you want to gamble.
Should probably have just saved myself the effort and said +1....

When you quote my reply in your post, why wouldn't the context of that post be in direction towards me?
HighBackRTG;4403373; said:This is starting to turn into a fight between you and I. It's getting us nowhere. It's also not the first time I've seen a spat that involves you on the forums when it comes to Arowana. I'm happy for your arowana because they have such a caring owner who provides. In your vast sea of knowledge when it comes to these fish, do you have anymore useful information to share?
HighBackRTG;4402629; said:Also my fish are all pellet trained, not a single fish eats live food. And by predatory ornate, you mean mine who sleeps with my CLS every night in their sunken barrel? The one who won't even try live earthworms and only wants sinking massivore pellets? Hey maybe, my tank is destined to fail but even if it is, I wouldn't let a single one of my fish die.
David R;4403626; said:I'm not sure if you're being optimistic or just naive. In 6 months time your ornate will be getting close to a foot long, and your clowns will be around 3". And the size difference will only get worse because of the difference in growth rates.
As Bderick said you can't watch your fish 24/7/365. The ornate is going to be most active [and predatory] when the lights are off and the room is dark. My big ornate took out several clowns around 3-4" when it was about a foot long (which is why I separated it and eventually sold it) and it was always at night.
