i would say they can be in a 125gallon up until they are about 14 inches (more or less) i guess it would depend on the dimension of your tank

No, arowana should be kept in tanks that are at least 3x the aros length and have a width at least equal the aros length. So your tank will only be good up to about 18". Black aros gonna get much longer then that.
