black banded shark question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
are you talking about a Marbled Bamboo Cat Shark?

A Marbled Bamboo Cat Shark - is the common LFS name for White-spotted Bamboo Shark.

But in truth - Bamboo Sharks and Catsharks aren't even related. Bamboo Sharks are part of the Carpet Shark family. While True Catsharks are part of the same family of sharks as the Smoothhounds, Requiem Sharks, and Hammerheads.

I guess the easy way to say this is no bamboos for you, most of them reach 3ft plus. The ones that don't are usually not located by ordinary lfs or importers.

Stick with a marble or coral catshark, or expect to have a 500+ gallon tank

My sharks will all be in a 1200 in my next upgrade.

I have a question. Is it true that fish/sharks only grow according to their environment?

That being said, you can do damage to sharks by keeping them in small areas. You'll see developmental issues, decreased organ function (esp liver/kidney) ans spine issues.

Which makes people think animals don't grow to size in captivity... but if taken care of properly they should reach max size and live a long life.

what size is your shark tank in your signature link

360 12x2x2.

Its a grow out, and is actually for sale currently. I still don't need to sell it for a while but I have it out there just to gain maximum amount if anyone stumbles across it.

Generally speaking - sharks or any fish can only reach it's max size if it lives a long life. The oldest sharks are usually some of the largest for it's species.
