JESUS....this thread turned into a big moral battle.

LET THE POPCORN....COMMENSE!

I agree, about the fins. They're like dog ears on big dogs. Lol

And yeah they always do with Mr Ducky.

MrDuckBootz MrDuckBootz and if it does spread to the lateral line. Then you'll see small holes or "wounds" even sore like indents. However I'm my personal opinion once it gets that far it's extremely hard to come back from. Usually the head will be first and get pretty bad. Although not every time. So just keep an eye out. Water changes like everyone has said. And treat for HITH. And with luck it will go away.

Or it could be just him hitting objects in the tank, that's why alot of people keep Dovii with no decorations. You just have to keep and eye and see if the indentation gets worse.

Frank, the op threw his age up as an excuse, not me.

Hendre,well put.
Now this is a bright young man.But much more commendable for his consideration of the animals he keeps. He would like some of the big stuff but has enough empathy for his fish to know his limits.
I'll be perfectly honest, as a reptile keeper, "cruel and inhumane" go hand in hand w/ feeding snakes and carnivorous lizards. I have tried to get every snake and lizard I own to take pre-killed frozen/thawed prey, but some snakes refuse and MUST be fed live prey. How am I any different in that case? It's about the same as using lab rodents for cancer research.

Yes it is.I won't disagree.
The only difference I see is your doing it for a reason.i see no plausible reason for what duckboots is doing.
But yes I think your both cruel as you ask.

fair enough. So you would never own an animal that requires live prey? What about Nature and predation? It's a natural part of life, survival of the fit, Darwinism, etc. Millions of organisms die everyday by predatory animals seeking to feed.

Let's take it a step further - how many people feed their fish live brine shrimp, earthworms, insects, etc, or the Fisherman who uses live bait whether it be catching fish for sustenance or recreation? Cruel also? Are you a vegan? Do you eat meat, eggs, etc? I think chopping down trees is worse than feeding mice to a snake, personally. Would you place destruction of a patch of rainforest on the same level as feeding a snake ? If so do vegetables and fruits have feelings? LOL

I thought this was heading in this direction.
No I'm not a vegan.
And predatory animals killing prey in the wild is not the same thing. In the wild the prey has lived a normal existence and Is caught by chance.
CHANCE being the operative word.
Putting a defenseless rodent in a box with a predatory snake or lizard removes chance. This to me is not comparative to nature in the slightest.
The live brine shrimp thing is a bit silly. They are a much lower class of species that no one has empathy for.You can squat a fly no one cares, shoot a dog and it's outrageous.
Personally I don't feed live foods of any description, nor do I fish.
