Black/Brown Dot on the Stomach of Stingrays?

I think it might be like the rays belly button you know where the umbilical cord is attatched to the yolksak in utero? Maybe?

If I remember correctly, both my female and male motoros have such a mark. The other male I had did have a mark, but not in the middle of his belly. I think it is near the front of his disk.

The yolksack theory makes the most sense but I wonder why not every ray has one...

thats what i was thinking :D

if it was the so called yoke sag then all rays would have it surely

i know nothing about the way rays work internaly but i have never seen a after birth or the female passing any kind of yolk sack

So what happened with the ray? Did it attempt to ingest some driftwood or got injuried from it?

It was a fresh import that quit eating one day and died shortly thereafter..

Well if they are live birth which they are and so are humans you have to be attatched to something right? even if it is a placenta of some sort the young have to get nutrients from mom and they have to be attatched. My 2 rays have this spot but it is a lot lighter maybe they all are different you know like innies and outies.

I think all of my rays have them. My pups were all born with yolk sacks. They lasted about a week. Ill bet thats what it is

When I first got my baby retics the dots would sometimes look greenish ? Now they are dark brownish black.. wonder if it's because they were near birth at that size..

My motoro had a greenish spot after death. It appeared somthing ate it from the inside out.

Has anyone felt the spot? If it was the attachment point for the yolk sack chances are it'd feel different then the surrounding area.

did all the pups live or were they still born this yolk sack this is new to me i never saw anything like it with 2 batches of pups and i watch the female give birth

in humans you have the ambilacal cord but inee and outee are to do with the way the cord was cut i thought

if the pups are attached to the female when the female is haveing a lot of pups like 14 in some motoro it must be mad inside the female with that amount of cords flying around

same with dogs i surpose
