I have it in my 100,65,10 and 6 gallon tanks really like it but it shows every little bit of waste.

i use Naturals black sand. This stuff isn't sand. It's coal slag. Not sure if it's good for aquars.I would like some kind of reassurances, for I don't want to poison my fish!

Check out plantedtank.net, there some threads on it in their Substrate forum.

I haven't seen any about it will kill your fish though, this stuff is inert.

I've found the best way to clear water from new sand to be draining and filling the tank at the same time for a few hours (if there's no fish). I run a hose from the tank siphoning to outside while simultaneously filling it from the sink.

I have 150lbs in my 150g. My geos use to sift through play sand but don't really sift through this. They use to make lots of hills and pits but not in the black diamond sand.

Damn didn't put the picture in? Anyway form a foot away it looks sparkly Jet black. Up close it has greenish flecks in it. Its really heavy waste just sits on top of it so I just
Skim over the top of the slag sucking up the fish waste. I love this stuff. Have it in fish only and planted tanks. Super cheap 100 lbs for $14 can't beat that. Hasn't changed ph or any other of my water parameters.
