thats not what im talking about at all the the cheap gun you can pick up at any DIY store the one im talking about runs off a air compressor
I got a wild 3 year old boy he loves all the fish tanks in our home, never messes with them .not yetYou people must not have young kids...
Although my daughter is good about not touching the glass. Even at the public aquariums she won't touch the acrylic windows and she tries to boss everybody around "hands off the glass". Pretty good for a 3 year old.
my last tank was acrylic and after 5 years was near scratch free my new tank has the creal glass you are talking about and the tank is only 2 years old and has scratches
the clear glass you are talking about is call opti white in the UK and it scratches must more easy than normal glass
Optiwhite is just a name of a product; it is actually "toughened low - iron" glass that gives is the crystal clear view without the nasty cheap green colour .
QUOTE=calgaryflames;5672908]You need a air compressor to run a bead of silicone lol hahaha
Sorry I find that funny, I work in construction ,I built a 16 long tank in my basement about 1250 gallons used about 40 tubes of silicone or more and used a regular caulking gun.
How does a air powered silicone gun work and why do you need it?i know I guy here who builds aquariums for a living for many stores across western Canada and he uses a regular caulking gun also,he's been doing it for longer than 30 years also.its a fairly big outfit.
it just goes to show you know nothing about how they make big tanks in the factory
the air gun pumps the silacon in fast and even stopping you from getting lots of air bubbles each time you stop the hand gun to click it again you stand a chance of bubbles on a 3-4inch wide bead
the same tubes are used but in a air gun
they used over 40 tubes of silacon on my tank how long do you think that would take by hand
your hand would look like you had been making yourself happy and probably just as sticky![]()
