I have been looking online and can't find an EBJD that looks like this. This was the only one in the tank at my LFS. I was just wondering if this is actually an EBJD or some kind of hybrid. I want to know if i got ripped off. Thanks, Here's a pic. I've had him for about a week and he has shown a lot more blue.

He's not stressed at all, nothing bothers him. Maybe he's just a low grade one that's why I couldn't find any online. What do other people think.

ebjd for sure, he may act fine but be close to death. A few of mine were nearly all black before the hit the bucket.

i have a dark phase normal jd(they exist, shes not stressed) maybe he is a dpebjd dark phase electic blue jack dempsey

Maybe it's a DPEBJD, Would that variation be uncommon? If its possible can you post a picture of your dark phase jack Dempsey. The fish eats all the time, so hopefully it doesn't die.

A dark EBJD is not a good sign. Usually they are stressed or sick, it is a regular EBJD but it doesn't look good. What eles is in the tank with him? What are you feeding him? What are your water parameters? When was the last water change? what is the temperature in the tank? What does it's poop look like?

Here is a better picture. I am feeding him new life spectrum. He poops red just like all my other fish. He is usually the first one to the top for the food. He was this color at the LFS for about a month before I decided to buy him. The water is 78 and nitrates are almost 0. I have some 2" Severums and other small fish, but everything leaves him alone, he hasn't been attacked once. He is in a 150G tank.
