If you have the space, transfer this fish to his own tank..fix him up and get it eating worms or cut up fish rather than live feeders.

OK gar people, how much do you think this gar is worth? Lets price this fairly!
Main thing to consider IMO is whether or not this gar is stable or not but after talking with snook he def. wants to establish the permanence of its color before putting it up for sale...

we can speculate all we want on this, but it really comes down to two things:
- what the seller wants to sell it for
- what people are willing to pay for it
i may not think a gold gar is worth $5k, but someone surely does, and that's what they are willing to pay for it, so that's what it is worth to them. the highest price someone is willing to pay is generally what the fish is often sold for; along with that, the seller will usually establish a price floor.
it's a cool fish for sure, but i would bet that someone is willing to pay far more than i would for it...and those are the people that will compete for it and eventually get the fish--

Market will determine the price really.. If someone is really looking for a darker patterned fish then I'm sure someone will pay for it. If I was really in the market for one I would not mind spending up to $200 for a Black Longnosed and maybe $150 for a Platyrhincus of this type.. Depends on how much I would really want it and what for.. This fish could fetch more from someone that is into collectiong things of this sort..
