Black GATF

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There was a member here who was really on a hunt for a black tigerfish a few years ago.I can't remember his username but he had Ohio as his location and was willing to pay good coin for one.

Ha Ha! I remember that...that was all a bunch of b.s.'ing and as expected, nothing came out of it. The guy was saying something like he wanted to pay someone to go to Africa to collect some...good luck with that!

There is no proof that there is any such thing as a black gatf. I've had mine since it was 2 inches and now it is 2 feet, probably larger than anyone else's here. If anything, it's getting more gold than black. Check my previous posts for pictures.

Lighting, substrate color can significantly impact the color and appearance. Def. just a H. Goliath but a nice looking one for sure.

I agree with the lighting and substrate colour affecting the fishes colour, but all of them were kept in the same conditions and the odd one out has some difference in jaw and fin structure.

Just slap a pic of it on e-bay with headline like "rare black tigerfish" or "platinum tigerfish" hike up the price a bit and hey presto you have enough money to through a mad new year's eve party ;)
