Are BGK blind or near to it? I just picked up one and it just goes around bumping into things. I know they have electroreception and he finds food easily especially live black worms.
They're amazing, I'd like to keep some.
Definitely not blind but they are nocturnal. I caught mine swimming in the daytime and as soon as I walk to the tank it swam into the cave.

Lots of hides, eddies & refuges, of course.
Thinking through where BGK, ABK, clown loach & zamora cat might find a middle-ground, to then realize that habitat photos all depict seasonal rivers.

I have only caught Panamanian knife fish once in a number of years collecting.
,and as you can see, that was when the small river was raging, and it was muddy brown, so no snorkling that day.
And it may be strange, that I have never caught even 1 again.
Even stranger, on that day, casting the small river Terable, one was nabbed with almost every cast.
After catching 2, we started throwing them back.
The water was also hard, with an 8.2 pH.
they are very secretive, and only come out of the hidy holes when fed.
these are only about 8¨long (20 cms)

Sweet knife I had a large gold line knife back in the day & that fish slurped up live fish like a boss 
Their eyes are tiny and nearly blind. They see with electroreceptors all over the body by generating a weak electric field enveloping the body to detect electric distortions. They often swim passed the food before backing over the food as they see behind as good as in the front with particular sensitivity to live food that is cellular electrical.
