Black Ghost Knife

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hello, I am new to the forum. The only fish I currently own is a large black ghost knifefish. I didn't know anything about him when I bought him, and figured he would eat anything else. He actually was really timid when I brought him home. They have poor eyesight but he gets on. Hell he tries.
He got used to me and is happy to see me now. We both like my room real dark and we both like to eat.

I am not interested in putting anything else with him, because a show stopper like that deserves his own tank. It is nice to read about other fish.

Note: I call him a guy because if it was a woman she would have run off by now.

i have a black ghost atm ,hes about 3.5/4" being kept with 2 cichlids. 1 hongi red top (3/3.5") a Electric Yellow Lab (1.5/2") and a talking cat (3.5") he gets a bit of hassle from the cichlids but hes been holding his own.used to have a quite small demasoni cichlid but i think when the lights went out he was owned......found half of him near his cave.

Feeds: Flake food/Blood worm

Going into a 4ft tank in the next few days , gettin rid of the cichlids and open to ideas for tank mates ???

Thanks

Danio Zebras rock. But if you want a MF I think bichirs are placid enough to go with them as lng as they are similar in size.

I have 6 BGK fish in a tank with 10 other placid species including angels and silver dolars. They all work fine together and the BGK fish are most active at night.

well you guys are gonna thuink im crazy, but i currently have 2 bgks in the same tank along with 2 brown knives and 2 glass knives....when i first got the second one, they hated eachother, but now they actually sleep on the same side of the tank, often within a few inches of one another...they are awesome fish, but i wouldnt recoment putting them with any of the bigger bichirs, or clown knives, or aros... they seem to do well with my angels ,congos ,discuses, ropefish and even my eels... haha i even have a couple newts in there with them

As you've probably guest by the name I love 'em.

I currently own two BGK :) they are friggn awesome to watch :)

Their tank mates include a Blue Acara, leopard ctenopoma 2 Steatocranisus Casuarius (male/female hopefully :)), Opaline gourami, chinese agle eater, bristlenose and a female fighter...

they all get along fine :) no one really hassles the BGK

my BGK eat eyes :( along with flakes, sinky pellets, frozen bloodworms...

and they bite me when im cleaning the tank!!! THEY HURT ALOT :(
