I'm new to the forum but I think it's really amazing that it exists. I look forward to reading through some of these threads.
I was just wondering what all of you fellow BGK owners fed your fish. I am trying to decide what to feed mine. As of right now I feed a variety of foods.

Thanks for your input!

Welcome to MFK:welcome:

Variety of food is always best:) I feed pellets as a staple, but also give them shrimp and tilapia.

Size will be a determining factor. When small mine ate nothing but brine and blood worms. A little bigger and red wigglers and ghost shrimp. One day went after a piece of fish and ate filets and market shrimp for the rest of his days. Never could get him to touch pellets.

I'm a pellet fan. I have pellet trained two, one was small when I got it and took pellets in about a week. Lost that one after I grew it to 8" and went on vacation and a heater failed (stealth heater before the recall). The most recent on was on my father's tank, that one was about 6" when purchased and took pellets within three days. Still alive over a year later and has no problem competing with cichlids and tetras for food.

Mine has always liked all foods. Pellets brine shrimp blood worms flakes but now he's bigger mostly pellets since brine shrimp are so small its usually waved off and just makes a mess including bloodworms.

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

Mine won't touch pellets but I feed Market Shrimp in tiny pieces, blood worms, red wigglers, and small pieces of tilapia. But his favorite are Blood Worms and Shrimp.

Try not feeding anything else if you want to get them on pellets... Generally not a hard fish to pellet train. I've seen entire tanks of them pellet trained. Even eating flake.

Welcome to the forum! :welcome:
I've fed my Knife fish various diets, such as blood worms, or even tropical flakes. They don't seem to be picky eaters.

I feed my 7" bgk with bloodworm, prawn (diced) and the odd pellet he occasionally takes a bit of nightcrawler left over from my Ray

I dnt have a bgk but when my clown was 4" and in a qt tank after just getting him i was feeding small sinking shrimp pellets and bunched up flake.... Then i pit him in the 220 with everyone else and wont touch anything thats not shrimp, pushing almost a foot he will engulf a shrimp cut in half longways but a piece of tilapia or a squid ring or something and he will spit it out.... Doesnt even look at pellets... Its like he doesnt like the texture of anything but the shrimp...
