Black gravel provides great contrast!

I used black gravel in my 125 instead of my normal natural. It may be my imagination but I think my fish's colors are deeper and more prominent.

The colors really do look much better. My Gold Barbs look amazing, as does the GNP. Picture does no justice, as is par with my shots.

Alright I've been thinking about what color of gravel to get too, I was going to choose a natural sand or black sand, I usally go natural but I have been wanting to try a black substrate so I think you guys have started to help me with that desicion. Do you think that an albino senegal would look good with black sand?

Any albino fish would look great over black sand!

I love the look of black substrate. Had black moon sand in my 35 loooonnnggg time ago, before I planted it, and the fish colors looked real good. Just wish it wasn't so darn expensive.

Glad to see my influence is reaching far! LOL Go for it, I think you will enjoy it.

I agree, a black environment does bring out the best colors out from a fish. The dark/black color contrast well defines the fish's true inner beauty!

dark substrate doesnt work all the time... doesnt necessarily bring out a fishes best colours. blue is apparently best for that
