Black Sand vs Black Tile

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i love them.... work great... sometimes you need a little something extra if you have built in overflows can be tricky but over all best damn things i ever bought for cleaning a tank...

Better than a mag float?

There are some places a mag float wont go. I never cleaned a tank over 400 gallons without at least having my finger breaking monster magnet and my aquamop.
I also had a dish washing brush ziptied to the back of the mop....

Wow....love how this thread turned out!!!

I might just have to get one now! Anything more I should know about this mop? Any replaceable parts one must worry about?

Any more pro's or con's to the mop itself?

nope.. just buy some replacement pads for it and you are good to go... thing is great also to scoot rays out of the way too.... just give them a little tap...

Replacement pads? Cant you just rinse the pad out?

pad last awhile if you rince it.... but eventually needs to be replaced...

Good question, IMHO it depends on your filtration system. Ive currently got 2 FX5s on the tank I might switch out to tile hence I am pretty confident that my bacteria colony will survive.

You thinking about doing this? Whats your filtration like? Tank size?[/quote]

Right now i have a 300 gal (6x5x17.5) ray tank with 2 FX5's and a Lifeguard Fluidized bed filter.. Both my FX5's are filled with bio rings and bed filter is filled with sand.. And all has been up and running for a year or so..
