any 1 out there with RBPS and some black sand for ur substrate, lps has this black shiny beach sand thought it would be cool with my RBPS when they get bigger and more colorful... if any one has any post some pics :)

Also i have 25 lbs of reg beach sand inside my 75g right now, how do u recommend i get it out, with a gravel vac or my aquarium fish net seems to work... any suggestions without completely draining the tank

I don't know what color your background is but darker substrate and background will usually make your fish's color dark. I see lots of people with no backgrounds or blue background with light substrate and their fish look a beautiful silver color....mine haven't been that color since they were tiny.

However, i do love the look of dark sand mixed with some white

i currently have a black background and black substrate with some driftwood branches on oneside it looks real nice when your tank is squeeky clean..but when your tank is dirty you can tell...i know this..cause sometimes im LAZY and dont feel like doing it ...imma try and flip my background over "deep blue sea" background its deep blue fades to black..see how that looks..

hmm well maybe ill do a deep blue sea look with the black substrate see how it turns out, i think it will look nice when it is clean. so maybe ill mix a little bit of beach sand and black sand like u said ballin and see how that works, currently i have my tank facing a wall on my stand with no background, dunno how ill get a background back there without pulling stand out.

Also how do background work, are they sticky on one side or... how do they work never used one

Edit: or should i just stick with my white wall background and use the black sand substrate with a mix of white sand

alright cool, what about background tho, should i jsut leave it no background or do u recommend a deep sea look, and how do they work.. like is one side sticky or

you can tape it on if you're doing one of those rolls...personally i did latex spray paint. Peels right off if i ever need to remove it. There's some nifty blue latex with sparkles. I like dark tanks myself so i've gone all black, i was just sharing an observation, go with what you like

I can't find the pics i was looking for. It was a members piranha tank with black and white sand. I think he said it was 2/3rd black and the rest white sand.

i like that look, i think im going for a deep sea background, with black and white sand mixture... thanks for info guys, but what do you recommend with taking out some of my old sand? with a vac or a fish net
